If you’ve been to our store recently, you’ve noticed that things have been changed around in a big way. We moved all our unfinished furniture into the hardware side of the store.
Following that, we moved all our surplus merchandise (closeouts, discontinued items, inventory reduction items, merchandised obtained from various outlets by bidding on it, etc.) into the area that WAS the unfinished furniture side of the store. We’ve named that part of the business C & R SURPLUS and we’re on Facebook.
We encourage you to “like” the page and tell your family and friends about it. There is a huge selection of all types of merchandise at drastically reduced prices. We currently have a shipment of returned SEARS merchandise (blowers, weed eaters, etc.).
ACE Hardware IS NOT CLOSING! We’ve been asked this many times. We have reorganized to make use of our floor space and move the surplus merchandise from the storage area to free up space for regular merchandise on the hardware side and in the warehouse space.

We all love a good deal! The idea of getting something we want for less than the stated price is something we all like. We all want to save money, especially in today’s economy. That is why many people clip coupons, shop clearance racks, or simply wait until their desired item goes on sale.
In addition to shopping “in store” there is also the lure of internet shopping, as well as home shopping television shows and infomercials. Some of the infomercials seem too good to be true. In many cases “too good to be true” is exactly that.
One thing we at ACE wanted to share with you is that when you see an infomercial where you are told that if you order their merchandise NOW they will throw in a second item FREE. In reality, “FREE” is not what you get.
According to the August 2011 edition of “Good Housekeeping” magazine (Vol. 253, No. 2, page 128), when you are promised that you’ll get that second item for free you are not told that you will still be charged the full price of shipping and handling on that second item. Thus, the FREE item can cost you almost as much as the first item, or, at a minimum, by the time you pay this extra cost you are not getting anything free.
That is why we agree with Good Housekeeping’s recommendation that if you truly wish to purchase an “as seen on tv” item, you go to your local “drugstores, home stores, . . .” OR you can come to OUR store where we stock many “as seen on tv” items. You can also shop our store website here. By purchasing the product with us, you do not have to pay any shipping & handling. Therefore, you are really getting a good deal AND saving money!
Since we blogged. That’s because we’ve been really busy getting our new line of Echo & Shindaiwa lawn equipment installed in the hardware side of our store. We’re ALSO about to get the CRAFTSMAN product line installed. 
In the unfinished furniture side of the store we are happy to report that we have new items of Amish made hardwood furniture! The manufacturer of this line joins our several other manufacturers. And remember, if you don’t see what you want IN the store, we can order it. We can even have a piece (or pieces!) custom made for you!

On Tuesday evening, March 15, Cottage Hill ACE Hardware held its first ever LADIES’ NIGHT OUT. We are pleased that it was attended by eight people, which for a first event we felt was a good turnout.

After learning how to stain wood from our Furniture Manager, David Molyneux, and how to fix various problems with leaking sink fixtures from our Store Manager, Bill Bastian, the ladies enjoyed refreshments and then were given anopportunity to shop and get a 20% discount off of their purchases.
We want our store to be THE store ladies think of when they need help with home and garden projects OR when they need furniture for their home since we have a vast selection of solid wood, unfinished furniture from which to choose.

This event will be FREE and we will have some refreshments on hand. PART of this first LADIES’ NIGHT OUT will be that while here that evening all women in attendance will be able to shop our store and save a huge 20% on their total purchase on non-sale items.
